Join fellow Probus members for an easy pace hike on the Bruce Trail lead by Richard Edwards, an experienced Bruce Trail hike leader. Let's take a 2 1/2 km loop hike (approximately 2hrs) at a casual pace, on a close-to-town trail-section with vistas over Georgian Bay, interesting crevices and maybe early autumn colours. The path is relatively flat with some uneven ground and hilly sections. Good walking/hiking shoes are needed and poles are strongly recommended. Each hiker should bring water and a snack.
We will meet at 9:15a.m. at the Bruce Trail car park on County Road 91 near Duntroon.
At 9:30a.m. we will stroll 1/2km to Franks' Kiln, to visit a unique piece of local history. The trail then follows the scenic scarp-edge for another km to a pretty viewpoint known as the "Wedding Tree". After a break, we will retrace our steps to a side trail that winds through a maple bush back to our cars. The hike is expected to finish around 11:30am.
The hike will be followed by an optional lunch at Mylar and Loreta's in Singhampton at noon.
Meet at the Bruce Trail carpark near Duntroon on Hwy 91 past Concession 10. Directions will be provided prior to the hike.
In case of rain, this event will be on Friday Sept 26th.
